Meyers Auto Parts Carburetors
By Mick Bailey
A carburetor is a device used by older models of cars to combine air with fuel to make cars run. The primary principle behind the technology of carburetors for cars is Bernoulli’s principle. This means that when air moves faster, its static pressure becomes lower and its dynamic pressure becomes higher. Contrary to what some people believe, it is not the
accelerator that controls the flow of liquid fuel.  What it controls is the carburetor mechanisms that are responsible for the measurement of the air flow into the engine.  The speed of this air flow and its pressure then determine the measurement of fuel brought to the airstream.

Maintaining Carburetors for Cars
To keep your engine running smooth, you have to make sure that every device is clean and in good condition. This is also true when it comes to carburetors for cars.  The unit should be kept clean and well-adjusted together with the links and other connections. This is not difficult to do at all as long as you have a step-by-step guide.  The car’s
service manual will give you instructions on the proper cleaning procedure. If you are unsure about how to proceed,
you can ask the professionals at Meyers Auto Parts how to do the job for you. To prepare for your cleaning job, you have to have plenty of clean rags and some carburetor cleaners that can be bought from Meyers Auto Parts. There are different types of cleaners for carburetors for cars. Some of them work in removing specific deposits. Examples of these cleaners are aerosol carburetor cleaners and degreasing cleaners. You will also need containers made of materials that won’t be dissolved by the carb solution. Eye protectors and gloves are also needed for your own safety. Carb cleaners are strong compounds, so you should take extra caution when applying them.

Disassembly and Assembly
Carburetors have a lot of small parts like screws and nuts.  Be careful not to lose anything during the disassembly.  You have to be able to reassemble your carburetor with the right parts in the right places after cleaning. Not properly putting the parts together might cause problems in operating your car. Pay attention to how you disassemble your carburetor and remember the order in which you took out the parts.  After cleaning all the parts and drying them using compressed air, you simply have to follow the reverse order in assembling your carburetor.

Cars without Carburetors
Through the years, people experienced problems with their carburetor and experts have come up with ways to make cars run without the old carburetor technologies. They invented what everyone knows today as the fuel injector. These are used by newer cars and have proven to be more efficient and less problematic than a carburetor.

A Better Alternative to Carburetors for Cars
Fuel injectors are easier to deal with compared to carburetors for cars. Also, many problems regarding the carburetor have been addressed by fuel injection technology. Atomized fuel is injected into the combustion chamber, reducing the problem with cold engine start-ups. Fuel injectors are also advantageous because they can deliver a more balanced amount of fuel into the cylinder. Injectors can deliver the right amounts of fuel at the right time, making them more fuel efficient and convenient for car drivers and owners.
